Don't forget to keep an eye on our class story page on Class Dojo!
Welcome back everyone!!
We are all very excited about the 8th March and we cannot wait to see you all. I am so proud of your efforts with the home learning tasks you have been set. You have all been absolute superstars and I am sure you will have lots of news to share with us when you return.
On Monday, we will be having a Monday Fun Day. This will allow plenty of time to just talk to each other, catch up with friends and enjoy each others company as I am sure one of the hardest parts of this lockdown has been missing your friends. We will have plenty of fun, play games, chat and catch up but also begin to think about our wellbeing.
Our topic this term is famous explorers. You have already completed a lot of the Geography work at home so we will begin to learn about famous explorers next week, where they went, what they saw and what they learned. Plenty of fun to be had!!
Welcome to Pine Class!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready to start the New Year!!!
This term, our topic is 'Hall of Fame'. We will be learning about lots of famous people (past and present) and the impact they have had on our lives today.
Key information: PE will be on a Tuesday and Friday. Please bring a full PE kit into school on a Monday to remain at school until Friday. Whilst the weather is warmer we will strive to do outdoor PE as often as possible so please ensure outdoor shoes and kit are included.
Reading: It is an expectation that children are heard reading at home for 10 minutes a day. This will have an enormous impact on their learning across the entire curriculum.
Reading books will be handed out on a Monday and returned on Friday. This allows for cleaning before returning to the book shelf. There will not be book changes on any other day. If your child has finished their reading book, encourage them to re-read (this really improves fluency!), ask your child questions about the book to improve comprehension or encourage your child to read some of their favourite books from home.
Homework: Weekly spellings will be placed on our class page. These will be a selection of words including the spelling rules taught that week. Although there will not be a weekly 'spelling test', these spellings will be checked regularly and should be practised routinely at home. Alongside these, the year 1 and 2 common exception words will be taught daily in school. A copy of these is attached below.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all especially during these uncertain times. Most importantly, we want all the children to be settled and happy in school and to enjoy their learning.
