I hope you all had a great Easter and ate lots of chocolate! There is a slight change in Year 2 this term with the wonderful Miss Race leaving us to work in Year 6. We would like to say a huge thank–you for all of her hard work in Year 2 and good luck to Miss Race on her new adventure. This term, we will be learning about the continent of Africa! In History, we will briefly explore how human rights in Africa have changed over time. In Geography, we will compare Navenby to villages in Kenya, understanding the differences and similarities between them. For example: jobs, facilities and lifestyles. In Science, the class will learn about the life cycles of plants and other living things and their habitats. If you feel you can enrich this topic in any way for our wonderful class, please send me an email or speak to me at the gate. You can also have a look at the Year 2 page of the school website where you can find a range of knowledge organisers.
End of Key Stage Tests (SATS)
Year 2 SATS meeting Thursday, 11th May at 3:30
This term, Year 2 will complete their end of KS1 tests evaluating their knowledge and progress in Reading, Maths and SPaG across KS1. Mr Swain will be hosting a short meeting on Thursday, 11th of May at 3:30 to explain the tests and how they are administered in school. If parents would like to attend please wait in the school reception after school to be collected. The tests will be finished by Year 2 in the weeks commencing the 15th and 22nd of May. SATs have been introduced to the children as Special Agent Training and the majority of them are excited to undertake them. The Year 2 staff will ensure the children feel confident and happy to complete the tests and will of course support the children who require it (with the necessary access arrangements). I also have attached a KS1 SATS parent’s guide above for your perusal.
