Our English work in Year 1 is all about exploring different texts; learning new vocabulary, making predictions and inferring about characters and their feelings. We often act out and sequence events and make story maps to help us understand the story. 

We look at familiar settings, characters and plots and use them to practice writing our sentences. 

Some of the stories we explore are Five Minutes Peace, Peace at Last, Supertato, Owl Babies and Storm Whale. 

We also explore rhyming poems in Oi Frog! and Rumble in the Jungle.
