Pine Class (Y2)
Class Information
Welcome back — we hope you had a lovely Easter! We are excited to begin a new term with Pine Class, and this term our topics are firmly rooted in geography and history as we explore Africa. In History, we will briefly explore how human rights in Africa have changed over time. In Geography, we will compare Navenby to villages in Kenya, helping the children to understand the similarities and differences between the two places. We will look at aspects such as African drumming, animals on Safari and even learn an Africa inspired dance.
This term, Mr Swain and Miss Rawlings will continue to guide the children through their learning, with the wonderful Mrs Boulby taking the class on a Wednesday whilst Mr Swain is planning.
PE
PE will take place on Monday and Tuesday afternoons, but please keep your child’s PE kit in school all week in case things change.
Reading
Please continue to read with your children and fill in their diaries at least three times a week. As the saying goes, once you learn to read, you can read to learn. The class have developed a wonderful attitude towards reading and it is lovely to see them reading for pleasure.
Homework
Thank you for all your support with homework. We will continue to send this out on a Friday to be handed in on a Wednesday.
As always, if you have any queries, please email me at Thomas.swain@navenby.lincs.sch.uk or speak to me at the gate most evenings.
