We have started off our English work this year with a non-fiction unit based on the book 'The Wonder Garden' by Jenny Broom. We studied her authorial style, finding that even though this is a factual text, her writing style is still very poetic and atmospheric thanks to her vivid descriptions, use of the senses and figurative language, like simile and metaphor.

We have been building our skills in note-taking whilst researching a habitat of our choice, before writing these up into paragraphs and publishing these onto an eye-catching double-page spread. Have a look at some of our work below:
