Earlier in the year, I was very excited to be approached by the organisers of Red, White and Blue Day to see if our Forces Club would be interested in taking part in creating the promotional material for the tri-service charity’s fundraising events for the next two years. This was an amazing opportunity for your children to be part of something really unique.
On Thursday 18th May the charity’s production company (AWOL Productions) visited the school to create the promotional videos and photographic stills sets for the 2017 and 2018 advertising campaigns.
The theme for this year’s campaign is 100 years of women in uniform. I was really pleased to welcome three of our Air Force mums (Mrs Cann, Mrs Bury and Mrs Lees) into school along with Colonel Sue (who some of you may remember from Camo Day) to fly the flag for local women in the military. The 2018 campaign focusses on the centenary of the end of WWI so we recreated a 1918 style street party in the hall!
It was an informative and fun afternoon for children and adults alike and we are all excited to see the finished products in due course.
The children had great fun creating paper planes (which they test flew on the field) and paper boats and then went into the hall to play games.
The pictures below give a little taste of the day!
