This year Red, White and Blue day will commemorate one hundred years of women in the military. We were very excited to be asked to be involved in the preparation of the promotional material and look forward to seeing the end results.
We will celebrate Red, White and Blue day with a special assembly presented by our Forces Club later in the year.
Red, White & Blue Day is being run jointly by ABF The Soldiers' Charity, The RAF Benevolent Fund and The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. Each of these three charities is responsible for the welfare of soldiers, sailors and airmen and their families.
The first ever Red, White & Blue Day was held in October 2011, with 54,000 children from 175 schools taking part. The event was part of the wider Ten for Ten project, which marked ten years of British Forces Involvement in Afghanistan.
Once again it is hoped that Red, White & Blue Day will be celebrated in every school in the UK, as well as military schools based overseas. Pupils can simply donate £1 and dress up in Red, White and Blue. We are hoping to organise some military based fun for the children to enjoy on the day...details to follow.
The money will be split between the three long-established charities which all have close ties with our Armed Forces.
