The Eco Councillors for 2017-2018 are:
Year 3: Daniel Cook and Tillia Edgar
Year 4: Hari Peterson and Poppy Carleton
Year 5: Lily Crookes and Ewan O'Brien
Year 6: Rachel Ballantyne and Jole Marriner.
Mrs Woolsey has also joined the Eco Council as Governor Representative.
This year we are continuing our work to gain Green Flag Status. We are currently working on :
Litter. All classes were involved in a litter pick around the school grounds and the results were pleasing with only three bags of litter collected!
Healthy Eating. The Eco Buddies are currently monitoring snacks at break times to see if children bring healthy snacks to school. Rachel has made a lovely poster which has been placed around school to remind children of some healthy snacks that they could choose. The results of this are expected shortly. Hannah has produced a very informative brochure about food groups which is displayed on the Eco Council notice board.
Eco Buddies are continuing to monitor utility usage with Mr Owen each Monday morning and we are hoping that the installation of new heaters will reduce usage even further.
The Buddies have also checked all the bins and light switches around the school the ensure that they are labelled correctly and to encourage children to think about recycling and electricity usage.
We hope to have sufficient evidence by the start of term 6 to apply for Green Flag Status.
